What's on Annie's mind this week? The power of "No".

I have an issue that I have been working on most of my life...I always bite off more than I can chew with my personal life. At once time I was on three boards, running a business with 9 employees plus consultants, cleaning my own house, doing my own laundry and making dinner every night. I thought the only way that I could be a good wife/friend/sister is if I bent over backwards to make other peoples lives easier. But what about me?

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. " – Dr. Seuss

I forgot about numero uno...ME! I needed to take care of me and so I did what everyone does when they are stressed, go and see a therapist. But that helped somewhat when it came to self-care. I started to get pedicures once or twice a month, made a habit to read one book a month that I always wanted to read, and buy myself those pretty shoes I had been looking at for over a month. But that did not fix my 'problem'.

So what did I do? And let me tell you it took me over a year to get into the habit to find my own personal life/work balance and learn how to just say no. First, I learned how to say 'NO' gracefully. Secondly I audited my schedule and realized how much time I was wasting on things I was not good at or didn't know what to do. And finally, I am still not 100% perfect, and I doubt I never will be...but I will never beat myself up.

If I can give one word of wisdom understand your strengths and delegate your weakness. And if you need me, I am here to help...annie@annieweller.com.

XOXO,
Annie
